Like a new born baby can't survived without milk, you can't survived your Christian race without the word of God.
There is a need to enter into a life time search for God's word in order that your life may please Him and that you will become more and more grounded in your faith.
Like a new born baby, you have a divine seed ( 1 Pet 1:23; 1John 3:9) which must be watered and nurtured to full growth
The only way this can happen is by entering into fellowship with the Lord through His Holy Spirit.
You need to know;
1. how to talk to Him(Prayer and worship)
2. and how to hear Him talk to you(the word of God)
A personal time alone with God is therefore important to the realization of the Christian objective, which is to grow up into Him in all things; thus becoming mature and attaining the stature and fullness of Christ ( Eph4:13-15).
During quiet time you learn to develop a sweet growing and lasting intimacy with the Lord.
Note:
If you don't have a solid foundation you cannot built a super structure
